Stephany Neptune named MVC Newcomer of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois women's basketball player Stephany Neptune has been named the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week the league announced Monday.
Neptune, a senior guard/forward from New York, N.Y., played the entire 40 minutes, shooting 50 percent from the field to score a game-high 22 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists, six steals and a block in SIU's Missouri Valley Conference opening win Saturday against Evansville.
The senior is ranked in the top-10 in the country in rebounds and leads the league in rebounds (11.7 rpg) and defensive boards (9.6 rpg). The game marks Neptune's fourth double-double of the season and the second game that she has been one assist away from a triple-double.
Neptune was also named the MVC Newcomer of the Week Dec. 21 and Nov. 23.
This week's MVC Player of the Week is Creighton's Sam Schuett.
