Pickard named MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois junior left tackle David Pickard has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

This is the first time this season that a Saluki offensive lineman has been honored and it is the second such honor for Pickard in his career.

Pickard anchored the offensive line that helped SIU put up 45 points in a win over a Northern Iowa team that came into the contest allowing just 18.0 points per game.

SIU racked up 414 yards of total offense and 329 of that came through the air. The protection from Pickard and the offensive line allowed the Salukis to throw for over 300 yards for the first time since Sept. 1, 2005.

Southern Illinois had six plays in the game that went for over 20 yards, including a pair of 50-yard pass plays.
