Saluki Football In-Game Notes vs. South Dakota State
Pre-game Notes
- SIU Captains: 14, 47 - Chance Coda and Korey Lindsey made their 32nd consecutive starts.
First Quarter
- South Dakota State drove down 70 yards on 14 plays, but came up with no points as Kyle Harris missed a 33-yard field goal.
- Joe Okon stopped Kyle Minett for no gain on a third-and-1 at the SIU 49-yard line to force SDSU to punt on its second possession.
- Travis Littles had a one-yard tackle for a loss around the one-minute mark. It was his second tackle for a loss this year.
- SIU, which came into the game averaging 10.3 points in the first quarter, was held scoreless in the first 15 minutes.
- South Dakota State did not score in the first quarter, and they have not scored in the first quarter in any game this season (six games).
Second Quarter
- Paul McIntosh's three-yard run on a third-and-2 was SIU's first third-down conversion of the game. It started 0-for-4.
- McIntosh was picked off at the SDSU 13-yard line by Cole Brodie, who returned it 87-yards for a touchdown to give the Jacks a 7-0 lead.
- Kyle Dougherty's 38-yard field goal at 00:28 was the 53rd of his career. He is the all-time record holder at SIU for field goals made.
- Joe Allaria had two catches in the first half, giving him a catch in 27-straight games.
- Southern Illinois was 3-of-13 passing in the first half for only 40 yards. The Salukis did have 110-yards on 26 rushes.
Third Quarter
- Joe Okon registered his first double-digit tackle game of his career with his 10th stop around the five-minute mark of the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
- Chris Dieker found Joe Allaria in the end zone for SIU's only touchdown of the day with a 10-yard pass at the 4:40 mark.
