Men's Golf finishes second at SIUE Intercollegiate

Edwardsville, Ill. - The Southern Illinois men's golf team completed its fall schedule Tuesday placing second at the SIUE DoubleTree Intercollegiate.
The 54-hole tournament was played at the par-72, 6,628-yard Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville, Ill.
The Salukis entered the final day of competition in second place with a score of 602 and shot a final round of 311 to secure their second-place spot with a final score of 913.
Southern Illinois placed four out of its five golfers in the top 25. Brandon Cauldwell led the team and placed third with a score of 222 (+6). Jake Erickson took sixth place, three strokes behind Cauldwell with a final score of 225.
George Tate finished in the 14th spot with three rounds in the 70s with a total of 232.
David Griffin and Richie Williams also competed for the Salukis posting scores of 236 and 245, respectively.
Missouri State held onto their day-one lead to capture first place with a score of 897.
With the fall 2010 schedule now complete for Southern, the team will resume competition in early spring and begin contention for the Missouri Valley Conference title. The 2011 MVC Championship will be hosted by Missouri State on April 25 and 26.
