Saluki Football In-Game Notes vs. Indiana State
Pre-game Notes
- SIU Captains: 14, 21, 47
- Chance Coda and Korey Lindsey made their 36th consecutive starts.
First Quarter
- Joe Allaria's touchdown reception at 12:13 gave him a catch in 31 consecutive games. It also was the eighth TD of his career, which ties for the 14th most in school history.
- Stephen Franklin sacked Ronnie Fouch on the Sycamores first drive of the game. It was his second sack of the season and 6.5 of his career.
- Chris Dieker completed a 43-yard pass to Luke Standiford on SIU's first play on its second drive of the game. It was Standiford's first career reception.
- Shariff Harris scored his eighth rushing touchdown of the season at 7:07. It came from one-yard out.
- Joe Okon's first career interception was set up by Robert Spann hitting ISU quarterback Coy Glass in the arm as he was throwing. It came at 5:56 and gave the Salukis the ball at the Sycamore 28-yard line.
- Dieker hit Kyle Harruff for a 31-yard touchdown at 5:03. It was Harruff's third TD on the year and fourth of his career. For Dieker, it was his 39th touchdown pass of his career, which ties him with Scott Gabbert for the third-most TD passes in Saluki history.
- Scott Cole recorded his first sack of the season at 3:37.
- ISU's Darrius Gates had a 65-yard rush in the final minute of the quarter. It is the second-longest rush SIU has allowed this year.
- If you take away Gates' rush, then the Sycamores only would have had 11 yards of total offense in the quarter.
Second Quarter
- After racking up 167 yards of offense in the first quarter, the Salukis only had 53 yards of offense in quarter No. 2. The Salukis did not cross mid-field.
- Indiana State was just 1-of-5 on third downs in the first half.
Third Quarter
- Jason Seaman recorded SIU's third sack of the game at 12:01. It give SIU four-straight games with at least three sacks. For Seaman, it was his fourth sack of the season.
- Dieker hit Jeff Evans on a 48-yard pass on Southern's first offense play of the second half.
- Dieker ran for the 11th touchdown of his career at 9:33.
- Connor James intercepted Matt Seliger on a fake punt and returned it 40-yards to the Indiana State five-yard line. It was his first career interception.
- Chris Dieker hit Philip Schumacher on a two-yard touchdown at 7:37. It was Schumacher's first career touchdown catch and Dieker's third TD toss of the game, tying his career-high. Dieker's last three touchdown passing game came on Oct. 4, 2008 at North Dakota State.
- Korey Lindsey intercepted his first pass of the season at 5:45. It was the 14th of his career, which is the third most in school history. The play also gave Southern its's third interception of the game, which is the team's seventh three-interception game in the last three seasons.
Dieker hit Cam Fuller for a 29-yard touchdown pass at 3:25, giving the senior QB a career-high four touchdown passes. For Fuller, it was his second touchdown in two games. He did not have a catch in his career before the game last week.
Fourth Quarter
- Dieker scored his second rushing touchdown at 13:16 with a one-yard run to cap off a eight-play, 51 yard drive. It was his sixth total touchdown accounted for in the game.
