Softball receives votes in USA Today/NFCA Top-25 Poll

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois softball team is receiving votes in the USA Today/NFCA Top-25 Poll for the second time this season. The Salukis also received votes in the pre-season poll, voted on by Division I head coaches.
SIU is receiving votes after an impressive performance at the Phyllis Rafter Memorial where the Salukis went 5-0 on the weekend. Boasting an 8-2 overall record, SIU prepares for the NFCA Leadoff Classic where they will face two top-25 opponents, No. 4 Michigan and No. 22 Florida State. SIU is currently the only Missouri Valley Conference team receiving votes.
The Salukis will face Mississippi Valley State Fri., Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. followed by a matchup against No. 22 Florida State at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, SIU will take on No. 4 Michigan at 12:30 p.m. and Auburn at 3 p.m. Southern Illinois will wrap up play at the Leadoff Classic with a game against NC State on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
