Ordway, Whitfield named Academic All-District

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois track and field athletes Jason Ordway and Toni Whitfield were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team for the 2009-10 season.
Ordway, the 2010 All-Missouri Valley Conference honoree in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finished 30th at the NCAA Mideast Regionals in his second trip as a senior May 27-29. The Holgate, Ohio, native holds a 3.68 cumulative grade point average in physiology.
Whitfield, a senior from Johnston City, Ill., earned 2010 All-MVC honors in the women's javelin throw. The civil engineering major carries a 4.00 cumulative GPA.
Both athletes are eligible for academic all-America consideration.
