ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Missouri Valley Football Conference recently announced its 2010 television package and Southern Illinois' Homecoming game against Northern Iowa on Oct. 9 will be televised to a national audience.
Fox College Sports (FCS), a national cable network featuring three channels and 56 million subscribers, will televise the 2 p.m. game live from Saluki Stadium.
The contests between the Salukis and Panthers have been heated over the years. SIU won the 2008 game in Carbondale on a last-second Kyle Dougherty field goal and in 2009 the Dawgs ended a 11-game losing streak in Cedar Falls, Iowa with a 27-20 win over UNI.
Southern Illinois is coming off an 11-2 season where they captured its second-straight MVFC Championship and finished the year ranked No. 6 in the national polls.
The Salukis return 10 starters and are poised to make a run at their sixth league title in eight years.
Any other TV games will be announced at a later date.
