CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois football staff began moving into its new offices on Monday, as the new athletic facility is starting to take shape.
With football season right around the corner, the football staff was given the first chance to move into the new building. The men's and women's basketball programs step foot in their new offices at weeks end.
In Saluki Stadium, construction crews are focusing mainly on the site work, pouring concrete and landscaping. Up in the press box, the club suites are 90 percent complete. Graphics around the stadium will go up during the first or second week of August.
Over in the SIU Arena, the seat-back chairs are currently being installed. Work on the concourse level and new entry way has been moving along and beginning in August, the new scoreboard will be installed in the arena.
The Saluki Way Project will debut on Sept. 2, when the football team hosts Quincy at 7 p.m. in Saluki Stadium, the centerpiece of the project.
