CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois football team begins preparations for the 2010 season on Friday, Aug. 6, when they hold its first practice of the fall.
Players report for camp on Thursday, Aug. 5. The team will move into the dorms that day after they complete physicals and compliance paperwork.
On Friday, the team's annual media day will take place in the Saluki locker rooms from noon to 1:15 p.m. Media day will be restricted to members of the media only. The first practice will be held that afternoon beginning at 3:15 p.m.
Southern Illinois will go through the NCAA mandated five-day acclimation period and will practice in only helmets and later in shoulder pads for the first week.
SIU's first fall scrimmage will take place on Aug. 12 at 9:15 a.m. 12 more days of practice following the first scrimmage lead up to the end of fall camp and the final scrimmage, which is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 26 at 7:00 p.m. in Saluki Stadium.
