Pre-game Notes

First Quarter
Terrell Wilson had his first career pass break-up at 9:56 on a pass intended for Dominique Barnes in the end zone.
YSU kicker Stephen Blose missed a 40-yard field goal attempt on the Penguins' first offensive drive of the game.
Kyle Dougherty missed a 52-yard field goal at 5:05. The snap was low and the hold never got completely down in time.
After YSU was 2-of-3 on third downs on its first drive, SIU got the Penguins to go three-and-out on their second drive.
Luke Thuston blocked a punt 2:16, which true freshman Taylon Hunter picked up and returned 38 yards for a touchdown. It was the second-straight season SIU has blocked a punt against Youngstown State. Fred Wright had the block last season.
Joe Allaria's had two catches in the first quarter, giving him at least one reception in 24-consecutive games. He's had two or more catches in 23 of those 24 games.
Chance Coda's sack of Kurt Hess forced a fumble that T.J. Shine recovered at 1:04 on the SIU 49-yard line. It was the first fumble he's forced in his career.
John Goode's touchdown catch with four seconds left was his fifth career TD reception and it came on the 16th catch of his career. It was his first catch this season.
Second Quarter
Derrick Nsubuga blocked a 39-yard field goal at 9:16.
Youngstown State had 115 yards of offense in the second quarter and scored 21 unanswered points in the period.
Southern only had 26 yards of total offense in the quarter. They had 88 yards in the first.
Southern Illinois did not punt in the first half.
YSU held the ball for 20:48 of the 30 minutes in the first half and had 20 more offensive plays that SIU did.
Third Quarter
Dieker's 2-yard rush to the SIU 28 on a third-and-one was SIU's first third-down conversion of the game. The Salukis started 0-of-4.
Allaria's catch at 3:46 was the 100th reception of his career. He becomes the ninth Saluki to catch 100 passes in a career.
Youngstown State blocked Austin Pucylowski's punt at 2:28 and got the ball on the SIU 39-yard line.
