CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois women's basketball head coach Missy Tiber announced Monday Jameeka Bouie has signed with the Salukis for 2012.
Bouie is a 6-foot forward from Case High School in Racine, Wis., that the Dan Olson Collegiate Girls Basketball Report ranked 88th overall and 19th as a shooting forward. ESPN Hoopgurlz ranked Bouie as a two-star recruit.
A three-year varsity player, Bouie has helped the Eagles to a combined 63-12 record during her career, including trips to the Wisconsin state tournament the past two seasons. She earned All-County and All-Conference honors all three years and was named All-State last season after averaging 17.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game as a junior.
"Jameeka is a versatile three or four spot player. I see her more as a three spot with her ability to shoot from the outside and handle the ball, but she also has the skills to go into the post," Tiber said. "Her size will also help us in our rebounding. When she shifts to a guard spot, that will be a great advantage."
Bouie joins a signing class with Azia Washington of Blue Springs High School in Blue Springs, Mo., who signed with the Salukis last week.
"I am extremely pleased with these two high caliber athletes and basketball players," Tiber said. "One of our main objectives was to fill needs but most importantly to maintain a high level of recruiting. I know that we have done that with Azia and Jameeka."
