Track and Field teams open indoor season Saturday

CARBONDALE, Ill. --The Southern Illinois track and field teams open up the 2011-12 indoor season by hosting the Saluki Fast Start, Saturday, Dec. 3 at the SIU Recreational Center.
Eleven teams will be competing in the first indoor event of the season, which starts at 10:30 a.m. with the women's pole vault. Team scores will not be taken.
The meet will begin with the field events in the morning. The track events start at 2:00 p.m. with the prelims of the men's and women's 60-meter dash.
The field of teams will include several Division I programs including Murray State, Kennesaw State, Southeast Missouri State, SIU-Edwardsville, Belmont, and Austin Peay.
After a successful 2010 indoor campaign, indoor All-Americans J.C. Lambert, Jeneva McCall, and Malaikah Love look to continue that success in the 2011-12 season. The trio combined to win five indoor titles at last year's Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships.
At last year's Saluki Fast Start, Southern Illinois recorded four first place finishes and one automatic mark.
