Women's Golf finish in a tie for 11th at Rio Verde Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz - The SIU women's golf team gained lost ground on the final day of the Rio Verde Invitational as it finished tied for 11th overall.
The Salukis shot a team best 302 in the final 18 holes of the tournament, with Cassie Rushing as the Salukis top finisher, as she scored a 74 on the day to tie for 28th overall at the invitational.
"We had a great day today and I'm very happy with all the scores and a 302 team score is what this team is capable of," head coach Diane Daugherty said.
Eastern Michigan won the 17 team invitational with an overall team score of 910, narrowly defeating Northern Arizona by one stroke. Meanwhile, the Salukis rounded out the teams scores with a 942.
Alisha Matthews finished close behind in a tie for 30th as she finished with an overall score of 235 while Margaret Gilley and Ashleigh Rushing both came in a tie for 39th with a 237.
Shaina Rennegarbe rounded out the Saluki finishers as she tied for 73rd with a 248. The Salukis will be back in action when they travel to Tampa, Fla. for the NIU Snowbird hosted by Northern Illinois University on Mar. 17-18.
