SEMO powers past Saluki baseball, 14-8

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Trenton Moses had two doubles, a home run and a career-high six RBIs to lead Southeast Missouri State past Southern Illinois, 14-8, Tuesday at Abe Martin Field.
The Redhawks scored four or more runs in three different innings. SEMO had 17 hits through the first six innings, which was three more than Southern had allowed in any other game this year, and finished with 18 hits in the game.
In the sixth inning alone, Southeast Missouri State scored six runs off of eight hits.
The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for the Salukis and drops their record down to 11-20 on the year. SEMO improves to 18-14 with the win.
The Salukis scored five runs in the first inning, three off of Jordan Sivertsen's seventh home run of the year, but only had six hits over the final eight innings.
For Sivertsen, it was his fourth home run in his last five games and he finished the game going 2-for-3 with a season-high four RBIs.
Freshman Derek Rallo came in to pinch hit in the ninth and homered to right field in what was just his second plate appearance of the season.
Redhawk reliever Kirk Boeller picked up the victory to improve to 2-1 on the year. He threw 3.0 scoreless innings of relief and gave up just two hits. Southern Illinois starter Bryan Waldrop falls to 0-1 with the loss, as he made his first career start Tuesday.
