Volleyball receives AVCA Team Academic Award

CARBONDALE, Ill.-- The Southern Illinois volleyball team has been honored as an American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award recipient for the sixth consecutive season.
Southern is one of 92 NCAA Division I schools to received the honor this year for finishing the 2010-11 academic year with a team GPA above 3.30. Saluki volleyball's team GPA for the year was 3.35.
Nine of the 13 players from the 2010 squad carried a GPA of 3.30 or better as Salukis Bailey Yeager and Jennifer Berwanger both finished the year with a perfect 4.0.
SIU is one of seven Missouri Valley Conference schools to receive the honor.
