Saluki Athletics, Southern Illinoisan to host Kickoff 5k

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois Athletics in association with The Southern Illinoisan will host the inaugural Saluki Kickoff 5k Sept. 3 prior to Saluki football's season opener at Southeast Missouri State.
The Saluki Kickoff 5k will give participants a scenic run around the SIU Campus with a chance to take in views of the new Saluki Athletics facilities as well as Campus Lake an the other natural features of campus. The race ends in the new Saluki Stadium, where runners will be able to watch themselves on the video board as they cross the finish line.
Check-in begins at 8 a.m. with the race set to start at 9 a.m. Runners can register prior to the event at www.thesouthern.com/kickoff or by printing off a registration form and sending it to Saluki Athletics. Registration fees for the event are as follows:
Early Registration
Individual - $30
Team (four-person) - $25/person
Student rate (youth, high school or college) - $25
Raceday Registration
Individual - $35
Team (four-person) - $30/person
Student rate (youth, high school or college) - $30
All runners will receive an Under Armour Saluki Kickoff 5k T-shirt. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Saluki Tickets for Kids program.
