Dixon named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS-- Southern Illinois runner Brian Dixon has been named the men's Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week Commissioner Doug Elgin announced today.

Dixon, a sophomore from Springfield, Ill., placed second individually at the EIU Walt Crawford Open in Charleston, Ill., on Saturday, September 10.

The MVC Cross Country Athlete of the Week, Dixon, who has a 4.00 cumulative grade-pointaverage in accounting, paced the 8K course in a career-best time of 24:53.34. He finished only one second behind event champion Zane Cooperider of IUPUI and guided the Salukis to a third-place team finish.
