Gibson earns MVC Athlete of the Week honors

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois freshman Lacey Gibson has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
Battling the unfavorable weather, Gibson was the top Saluki women's finisher placing second overall with a 5k time of 19:04.8 to help lead the women to their second team title of the season.
The Saluki Invitational included teams from the University of Evansville, SEMO, McKendree University, Millikin University, Kaskaskia College, and Missouri Baptist University.
This award marks the second Athlete of the Week of the season for SIU Cross Country.
