Left guard Jessy McMullin (6-6, 288, Jr.) has been named Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. McMullin helped the Salukis to a 38-10 blowout at SEMO.
After only playing in one game a year ago, McMullin made his first career start at SEMO, filling in for the injured George Danilkowicz. McMullin did more than just fill in; he graded out at 91 percent on blocking assignments and threw the key downfield block that sprung RB Steve Strother's 62-yard touchdown run on the second play of the game. The Saluki offense generated 494 yards of total offense, which ranks 12th in the nation. McMullin helped pave the way for 240 Saluki rushing yards, good for 11th in the country. In the passing game, McMullin and the rest of the Saluki offensive line did not allow a sack, helping quarterback Paul McIntosh have a career-high 246 yards passing.
The Salukis picked up where they left of last season. In the last week of the 2010 season, center Bryan Boemer won MFVC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors. Left tackle David Pickard also won Offensive Lineman of the Week once last year.
