Track women ranked 12th nationally in USTFCCCA preseason rankings

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released national team computer rankings for the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field preseason.
The Saluki women begin the season ranked 12th nationally. The women's team is one of four mid-major programs ranked in the top-25. They are joined by Conference USA schools UCF (6th) and Southern Miss (13th), from the Mountain West Conference BYU is ranked 7th and Stony Brook from the America East Conference is ranked 15th.
Meanwhile, the men's team will begin the season ranked 41st in the nation.
The Salukis have already competed in one event as they hosted the Saluki Fast Start on December 3 where they claimed 11 event titles. Senior thrower Jeneva McCall posted two personal bests with NCAA automatic qualifying marks in the weight throw and shot put. McCall went on to win the shot put and broke her own school record with mark of 57-00.25
The teams will look to continue their national rankings on Jan. 13 and 14 when they host the Saluki Open at the SIU Recreational Center.
