Track & Field heads to IU for Gladstein Invitational

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Saluki Track and Field team will hit the road for the first time in the 2011-12 season as they travel to Bloomington, Ind. to compete in the Gladstein Invitational this weekend.

At last weekend's Saluki Open, SIU totaled eight first place finishes. Additionally, J.C. Lambert punched his ticket to the NCAA Indoor Championships in the weight throw with a mark of 74-04.25.

Southern Illinois will face some of the top programs in the country including Louisville, Butler, and nationally ranked Indiana.

This meet will provide the first opportunity for multi-event athletes to compete in the pentathlon or heptathlon. Combined event action will begin Friday at noon ET with regular competition beginning at 3:30pm. Saturday is scheduled for a 10am start.
