This is the eleventh weekly installment of diaries from the 2012 Saluki volleyball team.

After a long bus ride home from the University of Northern Iowa last week we were ready to get back into the gym and prepare for our next two matches. This weekend was the first of the second round of conference play and we were excited to be back playing in our own gym. Since we had already played Wichita State and Missouri State we knew what we needed to focus on.
We started off Monday working hard on blocking patterns and finding out efficient ways to slow down Wichita's main attackers. We also honed in on our serving mechanics because we knew both teams were great at passing. Come Tuesday we had an unexpected day off from practice, we spent our day resting, catching up on homework, and for some of the girls, carving pumpkins. We came back to practice on Wednesday with a surprise in our locker room, brand new lockers!
We played Wichita State on Friday night at 7. We came out confident and ready to play as we took the first set from Wichita State. Unfortunately, we dropped the next three sets to lose the match. We fought hard and we knew had a quick turn-around to play another tough team, Missouri State. The match began Saturday night at 7 and we came out with a great win! We know we have a lot to improve on in practice this week as we take on Creighton and Drake on the road.
Go Salukis!
