CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois softball team has announced the dates for its 2013 winter camps.
The Salukis will host a pitching camp January 11-12 at Davies Gym and a hitting camp January 18-19 at Sports Blast.
The pitching camp is open to all kids in grades 5 though 12. It will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. The cost of the pitching camp is $95, which includes a camp T-shirt.
The pitching camp will include drill work for beginners, intermediate and advanced pitchers. The drills will focus on increasing control and speed and correcting common problems.
The hitting camp is open to all kids in grades 2 through 12. It will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. The cost of the hitting camp is also $95, which includes a camp T-shirt.
The hitting camp will include group and individual instruction and drill work with SIU players and coaches in the batting cages. The instruction will focus on stance and swing.
Each camper will receive an SIU softball poster and an autograph session with SIU players will take place at each camp.
