Taylor Orsburn named MVC Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Sophomore first baseman Taylor Orsburn has been named this week's State Farm MVC Player of the Week.

Orsburn continued to impress in conference play as she helped the Salukis to a Saturday doubleheader sweep of Creighton and the series victory going 7-for-10 (.700) on the weekend which included home runs in back-to-back innings Saturday, her first long balls of the season.

The sophomore first baseman also had two doubles, five RBI, seven runs scored and 14 total bases as she held a 1.400 slugging percentage and a .769 on base percentage while drawing three walks. Her four hits on in game one on Saturday marked a career high.

She was also flawless on the field with a 1.000 fielding percentage. The Alto Pass, Ill., native currently holds a .571 batting average in conference action and improved her overall batting average 63 points jumping from .246 to .309 after the weekend series.

This is the second player of the week honor for the Salukis as Mallory Duran-Sellers also earned the distinction on March 4.

The Salukis are back in action tomorrow as they face SIU Edwardsville in a single game beginning at 3 p.m.
