Alisha Matthews named MVC Golfer of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Southern Illinois senior Alisha Matthewshas been named this week's Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week.

Matthews opened up the Salukis spring season with a tie for fourth place finish at the NewWave Communication Racer Classic. The senior from St. Louis, Mo., totaled a two-day 36 hole score of 158 (78, 80) at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Ky.

Matthews' finish also earned her a spot on the five person All-Tournament team.

The Salukis are back in action Mar. 15-16 at the NIU Snowbird in Tampa, Fla.
