Women's Golf set to compete at Creighton Classic

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois women's golf team will wrap up the regular season at the Creighton Classic Monday and Tuesday.
The Salukis will compete in a field of 13 teams including the host Bluejays, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.), Western Illinois, SIU Edwardsville, Nebraska-Omaha, Upper Iowa, Drake, Rockhurst and South Dakota State.
"Our goal is to put together two solid team rounds before the MVC Championships," SIU head coach Alexis Mihelich said.
The 36-hole tournament will be held at the par 72, 6,084 yard Oak Hills Country Club in Omaha, Neb. Shotgun starts are planned for 9:30 a.m. Monday and 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
South Dakota State is the reigning champion as they shot a 664 in 2011.
The Salukis are coming off a second place finish at the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational in Peoria, Ill., on April 6-7. Cassie Rushing paced the Salukis with a third place finished followed by a fourth and fifth place finishes by Shaina Rennegarbe and Alisha Matthews, respectively.
