Spots still open for Volleyball camps/clinics

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Spots are still open for the Southern Illinois volleyball team's 2012 camps and clinics.
The Salukis will host individual camps for kids of all ages in addition to three position specific clinics and a team camp. All camps and clinics are scheduled to be held at SIU Arena.
The 2012 Saluki volleyball camps/clinics schedule is as follows:
Junior High All-Skills Clinic
Date: June 2
Cost: $65
A one-day clinic open to any and all players entering sixth through ninth grades, this clinic is designed for all positions and teaches all the fundamental skills of volleyball in the Saluki way. Players will maximize receptions through fun drill work and challenging games.
Offense Clinic
Date: June 9
Cost: $65
A one-day clinic open to any and all players entering sixth through 12th grades, this specialty clinic is designed for setters and hitters to learn position-specific techniques relating to offense. The clinic will focus on attacking techniques, footwork and developing shots for hitters while setters will learn setting techniques, tempo and set location.
Defense Clinic
Date: June 16
Cost: $65
A one-day clinic open to any and all players entering sixth through 12th grades, this specialty clinic is designed to improve ball control skills and individual defense. The clinic will cover serve receive and defense techniques for back row players as well as blocking and defense for front row players.
Lil' Saluki Volleyball Camp
Date: June 23
Cost: $40
Open to any and boys and girls ages 5 to 10, this camp is an introduction to volleyball. Campers will be taught the game and skills of volleyball in a fun and engaging environment. The camp will run form 9 a.m. to noon.
Junior High Camp
Dates: July 12-14
Cost: $255 overnight/$200 commuter
For any and all girls entering sixth through ninth grades, this camp provides enthusiastic teaching of fundamental skills and teamwork. Campers will learn and improve basic skills and be introduced to advanced techniques while also learning to work within a team environment.
High School Camp
Dates: July 19-21
Cost: $255 overnight/$200 commuter
For any and all girls ages 14 to 18, this camp is open to all skill levels and positions. This camp provides technical and tactical training for those looking to maximize their volleyball potential. Campers will receive outstanding instruction to improve their knowledge and skill in all aspects of the game. In addition to working on all skills, campers will also compete in team competitions.
Team Camp
Dates: July 26-28
Cost: $200 overnight/$145 commuter
Open to any and all middle school and high school teams, this camp provides the opportunity for teams to receive instruction in skill training and system training while also competing against other teams. It is a great way for teams and coaches to prepare for the upcoming season. Coaches are welcomed and encouraged to come with their teams. A minimum number of seven players per team is required.
