Volleyball receives AVCA Team Academic Award

CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Southern Illinois volleyball team has been honored as an American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award recipient for the seventh consecutive season.

SIU is one of 103 NCAA Division I schools to receive the honor for finishing the 2011-12 academic year with a team GPA above 3.30. Saluki volleyball's team GPA for the year was 3.31.

Seven players from the 2011 squad carried a GPA of 3.30 or better and Bailey Yeager carried a perfect 4.0 through the year. SIU is one of seven Missouri Valley Conference schools to receive the honor this season.
