ST. LOUIS-- Southern Illinois University volleyball player Bailey Yeager has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
A libero for the Salukis, Yeager, a senior from Brownsburg, Ind. surpassed the 1,000-career dig mark, as Southern Illinois defeated Southeast Missouri State (3-2 on September 11), Indiana State (3-0 on September 14) and Illinois State (3-0 on September 15).
Yeager, has a 3.92 cumulative grade-point average in communications disorders, tallied 76 digs in three matches for an average of 6.91 per set. Yeager, whose season per set average of 5.56 leads the league, now owns 1,022 career digs to rank sixth all-time in SIU history.
The MVC Defensive Player of the Week is also ranked 15th in the nation in digs per set.
