Salukis fall to Bradley in three sets

PEORIA, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois volleyball team fell to Bradley Saturday night, 3-0, ending its five-match winning streak.
The Braves (11-9, 5-6 MVC) swept the Salukis, 25-23, 25-21, 25-19.
The Salukis (12-11, 7-4 MVC) jumped out to an early 11-6 advantage, but Bradley reeled off a 9-1 run to take a 15-12 lead and SIU was unable to recover despite a .233 attacking percent.
The second set followed suit with Southern Illinois and Bradley as errors were the story for the Salukis as they committed 10 in the set. With six lead changes, the Braves held off the Salukis late, ending the set with a 4-0 run.
Bradley controlled the third set with a .263 attacking percent. The Salukis took the lead twice, but could not hold off a hot Braves team.
Jessica Whitehead and Taylor Pippen tallied 10 kills each while Meg Viggars chipped in six. Hannah Kaminsky dished out 30 assists while Alex Rivera recorded a team-high 12 digs.
The Salukis will host Missouri State on Friday for a 7 p.m. match with the Bears.
