Matt Jones named CBI Regional Player of the Week

SIU catcher Matt Jones has been named the Collegebaseballinsider.com Louisville Slugger Central Region Player of the Week for his performance from Feb. 18-24, CBI announced this week.

Jones batted .474 (9-for-19) with 10 RBI in four games for the Salukis last week. In a three-game series over the weekend at Jacksonville State, Jones was 8-for-15 with three doubles and three multi-hit games. He had three hits and knocked in five in Friday's series opener and repeated the three hits and five RBI on Saturday.

The junior also received Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week honors earlier this week.
