CHARLOTTE, N.C. - College Football Performance Awards, the largest awards organization in D-I college football, has named Southern Illinois senior punter Austin Pucylowski to its watch list for the 2013 CFPA Punter Award. The preliminary watch list highlights 32 returning performers vying for the top individual punter award in the Football Championship Subdivision.
In 2012, Pucylowski was an All-Missouri Valley Conference honorable mention and ranked second in the MVFC with 71 punts for 2,855 yards. He averaged 40.2 yards per punt and ranked 20th in the nation in net punting with a 36.7 average. Pucylowski pinned 23 punts inside the 20-yard line. He was also twice an honorable mention of the CFPA's weekly awards.
All CFPA recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions, and players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration.
Earlier this offseason, SIU tight end MyCole Pruitt and linebacker Bryan Presume were named to the CFPA FCS Tight End Award and Linebacker Award watch lists, respectively. Former Saluki defensive back Korey Lindsey earned the 2010 CFPA Elite Defensive Back Award.
The full list of 2013 recipients, including the 2013 CFPA FCS Awards, will be announced on January 8, 2014.
