Thomas Kinney was one of seven FCS kickers and one of 36 kickers in college football named to the Fred Mitchell Award Watch List. The Mitchell Award honors the kicker who best exemplifies excellence in kicking and in the community.
Kinney was a second-team All-MVFC honoree in 2013 and earned a spot on the All-Newcomer team after making 18 field goals during the year. His 52-yard field goal against Western Illinois was the second-longest made field goal in the FCS in 2013, and he went 3-for-5 on field goals 47 yards or longer on the season.
He also was active in the community. He was among a large group of Saluki football players who volunteers at the annual Souper Bowl of Caring, and he also volunteered for the Special Olympics.
Kinney has been named a 2014 preseason first-team All-American by The Sports Network and was also named to the preseason All-MVFC first team. He earned a spot on the CFPA FCS Placekicker of the Year watch list, as well.
