Volleyball receives ninth-straight AVCA Team Academic Award

CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Southern Illinois University volleyball team has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the ninth consecutive season.
SIU is one of 136 NCAA Division I schools to earn the distinction for having a cumulative team GPA of 3.30 or higher. Saluki volleyball finished the 2013-14 school year with a 3.402 cumulative team GPA. The Saluki women posted a 3.315 team GPA in the fall and a 3.508 mark in the spring. Three members of the team carried a 4.0 over both semesters.
Junior Taylor Pippen was named a First Team Scholar Athlete by the Missouri Valley Conference following the 2013 season with a cumulative 3.71 GPA.
