ST. LOUIS - SIU senior center Tanner Crum was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week, the league announced Monday. Crum was instrumental in helping SIU put up 465 yards of total offense in a 50-23 win over Southeast Missouri on Saturday.
Crum quarterbacked an offensive line that did not allow a sack for the second time in three games. Southern also rushed for 240 total yards against the Redhawks, including 80 on 14-straight rushes that bled out the final 9:40 of the game. Crum played every snap and posted the top grade among SIU's offensive linemen.
Crum joined Mark Iannotti as a weekly honoree by the MVFC. Iannotti earned MVFC Newcomer of the Week honors after throwing for a school-record six touchdowns in the win. Crum is the fourth Saluki to earn weekly honors from the MVFC in 2014; Tyler Williamson (Defensive) and Thomas Kinney (Special Teams) earned weekly honors after Southern's 38-21 win at No. 14 Eastern Illinois in week two.
The Salukis travel to Purdue on Saturday for an 11 a.m. CDT start. The game will be televised on Big Ten Network.
