Former Salukis wrap up 2014 baseball season

CARBONDALE, Ill.- Six former Southern Illinois University baseball players wrapped up their 2014 minor league seasons recently, and here are the highlights of their seasons.
Sam Coonrod, RHP- AZL Giants (San Francisco Giants)
Coonrod was a fifth-round pick in 2014 by the San Francisco Giants. He appeared in 15 games while earning five starts with the AZL Giants. Coonrod finished the season with a 1-0 record, with 25 strikeouts in 27.2 inning pitched.
Todd Eaton, RHP- Lexington Legends (Kansas City Royals)
A 34th round pick of the Kansas City Royals in 2014, Eaton appeared in 11 total games between two different teams. Eaton opened his season with the Burlington Royals, making 10 relief appearances before being moved up to the Legends. On the year, Eaton recorded 15 strikeouts in 14.2 inning played.
Cody Forsythe, LHP- Clearwater Threshers (Philadelphia Phillies)
The former 25th round pick had a strong 2014 season. Forsythe started the year playing for the Lakewood Blueclaws, making 23 appearances. During his time with the Blueclaws, he pitched 29.1 innings with 25 strikeouts. He also saved nine games en route to a 3-2 record and 2.45 earned run average (ERA). His play with the Blueclaws earned him a mid-season All-Star selection in the South Atlantic League.
Forsythe was called up to the Threshers in June, where he finished the season. He made 22 appearances with the club while pitching 35.2 innings. He struck-out 47 and limited hitters to a .208 average. He also recorded three saves and picked up two wins.
Chris Serritella, 1B- Clearwater Threshers (Philadelphia Phillies)Serritella was a fourth round pick by the Phillies in 2012. The former Saluki made appearances with both the Reading Fightin' Phils and the Threshers. With the Phils, Serritella played in 35 games, getting 18 hits and knocking in seven RBI. He also laced three doubles and hit two home-runs.
Serritella finished the year with the Threshers, playing in 61 games. He racked up 43 hits and batted in 29 runs. The first baseman also accounted for seven home runs, one triple, and 11 doubles. He finished the year hitting .216 for the Threshers.
Nathan Dorris, LHP- Daytona Cubs (Chicago Cubs)
Dorris split his 2014 season with the Kane County Cougars and the Daytona Cubs. With the Cougars, Dorris made 13 appearances, striking out 21 batters over 21.2 innings. He held hitters to a .184 batting average. He went 4-2 with a 2.49 ERA and picked up two saves. With the Cubs, Dorris played in 19 games, earning 11 starts. He notched 53 strikeouts in 74.2 innings and five wins.
Ryan Bradley, LHP- Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants)
Bradley spent the 2014 season playing for three different teams in the San Francisco organization. The left-hander began the year with the San Jose Giants and made 21 appearances with four starts. He struck-out 37 batters over 49.1 innings. Bradley made one start with the Fresno Grizzlies, pitching three innings and recorded three strikeouts. He finished the year with Richmond, playing in four games with two starts. In his brief time with the Squirrels, Bradley picked up five strikeouts in 10.2 innings.
