Andrea Estrada named MVC Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Redshirt sophomore Andrea Estrada was named MVC Player of the Week for her strong showings in SIU's wins against Illinois State and Indiana State last week, the Valley announced on Monday.
Estrada continued her streak of leading the Salukis' offense last weekend, finishing with the most kills and attempts in both of SIU's matches against Illinois State and Indiana State. In the Salukis' sweep over Illinois State, Estrada lit up the court with 24 kills and only five errors on 47 attempts for a .404 attack efficiency. Prior to Friday's match, no Saluki had hit more than 14 kills in a three set match this season. She also added two aces, two blocks and three digs to the victory.
Estrada continued with another strong performance on Saturday, posting 19 kills, seven digs, three blocks and an ace. Overall, Estrada averaged 6.14 kills per set on the weekend at a .348 clip and finished with 10 digs, five blocks and three aces. Estrada currently ranks third in the Valley with 3.85 kills per set and 11th with a .288 attack efficiency.
This is the third consecutive week a Saluki has earned weekly MVC accolades after Meg Viggars and Taylor Pippen each earned Defensive Player of the Week honors in the last two weeks.
