Daquan Isom named MVFC Newcomer of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Saluki Football running back Daquan Isom was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Sunday. Isom had 275 all-purpose yards and three total touchdowns in SIU's 49-28 loss at Northern Iowa on Saturday.
Daquan Isom had 275 all-purpose yards on Saturday at UNI and scored three total touchdowns. He had 145 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, and 68 yards and another touchdown receiving. He added 62 return yards. Isom scored on back-to-back rushes in the third quarter from 61 and 72 yards out. Isom ends his freshman year ranked eighth nationally in all-purpose yards per game and second among freshmen.
Isom was also named MVFC Newcomer of the Year after rushing for 123 yards on 10 carries against Liberty. This is the eighth weekly honor from the MVFC for SIU this season. Austin Olsen (vs. MSU) and Ethan Wirth (@IU) MVFC Offensive Lineman Player of the Week honors. Mark Iannotti (Offensive POW, @IU), Austin Johnson (Special Teams POW, vs. Liberty), Chase Allen (ST POW, vs. YSU) and Brandon Williams (Defensive POW, vs. Liberty) also have earned MVFC Player of the Week honors this season.
