Allen, Iannotti named to CFPA midseason watch lists

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Quarterback Mark Iannotti was placed on the 32-man College Football Performance Award Performer of the Year Watch List, and linebacker Chase Allen was placed on the CFPA's Linebacker Award Watch List. In addition, kicker Austin Johnson earned recognition from the Fred Mitchell Award for outstanding placekicking and work in the community.
Iannotti ranks in the top-10 nationally in total offense, passing yards, completion percentage and points responsible for. He leads the MVFC in total offense, passing yards, passing touchdowns, completion percentage and points responsible for. Iannotti individually averaged more yards per game than three MVFC teams, and he is on pace to become the first player in conference history to reach 4,000 yards total offense during the regular season.
Chase Allen ranks 11th nationally and third in the MVFC in tackles per game, and he leads the nation in blocked kicks with three. He had 19 tackles against Southeast Missouri, the most by an SIU player since 2002. He has also forced two fumbles, recovered two fumbles, scored a defensive touchdown, 6.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and seven quarterback hurries. Allen has had double-digit tackles in six of SIU's eight games.
Austin Johnson earned recognition from the Fred Mitchell Award for outstanding placekicking and community service in the month of October. Johnson ranks sixth nationally in field goals made per game. He hit a 51-yard field goal against Western Illinois, the fifth-longest field goal in school history, becoming the seventh player in program history to hit a field goal of 50+ yards.
