Iannotti, Reed named first-team Academic All-District

Mark Iannotti and Billy Reed were both named to the 2015 Academic All-District V team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced today. Both players are now eligible for the Academic All-America team, which will be announced in early December.
Mark Iannotti leads the MVFC in total offense, passing yards, passing touchdowns, completion percentage and points responsible for, ranking in the top-10 nationally in all those categories. He leads the league in total offense by nearly 1,000 yards an is on pace to become the first player in conference history to reach 4,000 yards total offense in the regular season. Iannotti holds a 3.89 GPA in marketing.
Billy Reed is SIU's leading receiver in 2015 with 519 yards and 35 catches. He is averaging 14.8 yards per reception and has two touchdowns. The Lockport, Ill., native has at least three receptions in every game this year and has started all eight games. Reed holds a 3.85 GPA in finance.
Southern Illinois is in District 5 of the eight districts nationally. District 5 includes all Division I universities in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
Southern Illinois players have earned 18 Academic All-District honors in head coach Dale Lennon's eight-year tenure and have had multiple honorees in seven of those eight seasons. Last year, Corey Boemer and Tyler Williamson earned Academic All-District honors, and both went on to earn Academic All-America honors, as well. SIU has eight Academic All-Americans under Lennon.
