Salukis face Eastern Kentucky in four-game series

ROAD WARRIORS
The Salukis continue their eight-game road trip with a four-game series against Eastern Kentucky. The games will be played at LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, Ga., after inclement weather forced the series to relocate.
FRIDAY'S STARTER
Redshirt senior Aaron Hauge will start for the Salukis on Friday. In his last outing, Hauge pitched five innings, while only give up three hits and one earned run.
SATURDAY, SUNDAY STARTERS
Kyle Pruemer will start the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. Pruemer pitched two innings against TCU in the season opening series. Austin McPheron will start game two on Saturday. McPheron worked out of the bullpen against the Horned frogs and pitched two scoreless innings.
SCOUTING THE SALUKIS
The Salukis are coming off of a three-game sweep at the hands of TCU. 14 players made their Saluki debut in the series. Outfielder J.C DeMuri lead the Salukis with two RBIs, while Jake Hand and Greg Lambert led SIU with two hits apiece. The Saluki pitching staff combined for 18 strikeouts against TCU.
EKU SERIES NOTES
SIU is 5-0 all-time against the Colonels. The two teams have not played each other since the 2013 season, when the Salukis earned a three-game sweep.
SCOUTING THE COLONELS
EKU started the season with a pair of losses against East Tennessee State University. The Colonels are picked to finish ninth in the OVC, after going 24-31 a year ago. Outfielder TJ Alas leads EKU with five hits, two home runs, and three RBIs this season.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
The Salukis will be one of the youngest teams in the MVC, with 26 freshmen and sophomores on the team.
FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICAN
LHP Kyle Pauly returns for his sophomore campaign after being named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American last season. Pauly had a 2-3 record and a 1.43 ERA.
PRESEASON ACCOLADE
Freshman INF Chase Slone was Baseball America's pick to be the MVC Freshman of the Year.
WELCOME BACK
Bryce Sablotny and Anthony Shimkus made their first appearances in nearly two years against TCU. The two pitchers returned after recovering from Tommy John surgery.
RETURNING PRODUCTION
The Saluki pitching staff returns six pitchers that combined for 14 wins last season. The six returnees also accounted for 42% of SIU's strikeouts.
