MVC releases cross country preseason polls

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Missouri Valley Conference has announced the men's and women's preseason poll, with the Southern Illinois men's team picked to finish seventh, while the women's team was tabbed eighth.
Senior Oscar Medina will lead SIU into competition this season. Medina was an first-team All-Conference selection after finishing seventh in the 2014 MVC Championship. The Chicago native was also named to the Midwest All-Region team after a 23rd place finish.
The women's team will also be led by senior Krista Menghini. The Fenton, Mo., native earned first-team All-MVC honors after finishing 10th at the MVC Championship last year.
Southern opens the season on Sept. 4, when the Salukis head to Charleston, Ill., for the EIU Panther Open.
