SIU to hold walk-on tryouts on August 24

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois football team will hold a tryout on Monday, August 24, for SIU students interested in joining the program. The team will hold an informational meeting for prospective student-athletes at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, August 23, in the Saluki football offices in the Boydston Center. The on-field workout will follow at Saluki Stadium at 4 p.m. on Monday, August 24.
Two recent Saluki walk-ons-- Ray Agnew and Kenneth Boatright -- went on to start at SIU and play in the NFL.
All students participating in the tryout must complete a tryout physical before the date of football tryouts. If the student is chosen to walk on to the team, they must carry the SIU Student Health Insurance Plan through the Student Health Center.
