Southern Illinois placed two volleyball student-athletes on the 2016 All-Missouri Valley Conference Team and one on the All-Freshman Team, the league announced Thursday.
Â
Junior middle blocker Alex Rosignol was named to the All-MVC First Team, while redshirt junior outside hitter Andrea Estrada earned All-MVC Second Team honors and freshman outside hitter Ginger Perinar was honored as part of the All-Freshman Team.
Â
For Rosignol, it marks the first time she has earned all-conference laurels, and the fifth-straight season that the Salukis have placed at least one on All-MVC First Team. Estrada earns All-MVC honors for the second-straight season, and including her All-Freshman Team honors in 2014, has earned a postseason award from the conference in each of her three seasons at SIU.
Â
Rosignol finished her junior campaign second in the conference in blocks per set (1.14/set) and third in the league, and 26th in the nation, in hitting percentage (.376). She also finished third on the team in kills (177) and fourth on the team in service aces (22).
Â
Estrada, who earned All-MVC First Team honors last year, led the Salukis in kills (2.88/set), service aces (.26/set) and finished second in digs (3.15/set). The redshirt junior tallied 14 double-doubles and joined the 1,000 kill/1,000 dig club this season, becoming just the fourth Saluki to do so.
Â
Perinar appeared in 25 matches this season, including six starts. The Channahon, Ill. native finished third on the team in kills per set (1.95) and was fourth in blocks (.59/set). She's the 10th Saluki to earn inclusion on the All-Freshman Team since 1999 and the fifth in the past five seasons.
