Billy Reed named to MVFC All-Academic First Team

ST. LOUIS - Southern Illinois wide receiver Billy Reed was named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Academic First Team, the league announced Wednesday morning.

Reed has earned first-team Academic All-MVFC and first-team Academic All-District in each of the last two years. He graduated from SIU in May with a 3.72 GPA in finance. Reed played in all 11 games and started nine for SIU in 2016. He was ninth in the MVFC in receptions per game and receiving yards per game. He led the team with 45 receptions and was a team captain. He was second on the team with 580 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns.

Reed ends his career as one of the best receivers in school history. His 118 career receptions rank ninth in school hisotry, and his 1,564 career receiving yards rank sixth in school history.
