Harre named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Southern Illinois softball infielder Shaye Harre was named Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. Harre was named MVC Player of the Week on Monday and holds a 3.875 GPA in animal sciences.
Harre hit three home runs and had nine RBIs in SIU's 3-0 week. Harre went 5-for-8 with a double, three home runs, nine RBIs, three walks and four runs scored in three games. Her slugging percentage was 1.875 and her on-base percentage was .727 (8-for-11) while playing perfect defense. Harre led SIU to a 2-0 start to MVC play. She homered again against SEMO on Tuesday, leading SIU to its fifth-straight win.
Missouri State baseball's Jake Burger was named the conference's male Student-Athlete of the Week. To qualify for Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. Burger and Harre were honored for their performances during the period of March 14- March 20.
