Price, Freeman named MVC Field Athletes of the Week

ST. LOUIS -- Saluki throwers DeAnna Price and Josh Freeman have been named the Missouri Valley Conference Field Athletes of the Week, the Valley announced Tuesday.
This most recent field athlete sweep by the Salukis marks the fourth sweep in five tries this outdoor season. It is the second-straight weekly honor for Freeman and the fifth-straight for Price.
MVC Women's Field Athlete of the Week
DeAnna Price, Sr., Moscow Mills, Mo.
Price was named the outstanding male performer of the Tom Botts Invitational Saturday after tallying a team-best 28 points for the Salukis across three events. The defending NCAA champion tallied four of six throws of 69m or better in the hammer, winning with a meet record toss of 71.82m (235-07). It marks the 10th longest throw in NCAA history, and gives the three-time All-American four of the top-10 marks in NCAA history. Price added a runner-up finish in the discus and was the top collegiate finisher in the shot put with a third-place showing. The Moscow Mills, Mo., native tied her season-best mark of 16.04m (52-07.50) to take home third place in the shot.
MVC Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Josh Freeman, Sr., Fox River Grove, Ill.
Freeman won the shot put and the discus at the Tom Botts Invitational on Saturday. Freeman set a new meet record in the shot put with a season-best toss of 19.92m (65-04.25), and is now ranked second in the NCAA West Region, and third in the nation. The three-time first-team All-American followed with a first-place showing in the discus, throwing 55.75m (182-11).
The Salukis are back in action beginning Friday, April 22 at the two-day Pacesetter Sports Invite, hosted by Indiana State University.
