CARBONDALE, Ill. - A limited number of spots are still available for this summer's Southern Illinois Volleyball camps. The camps and clinics offers young volleyball enthusiasts a great way to have fun while improving their skills.
Southern Illinois head coach Justin Ingram and his staff are conducting a series of clinics and camps throughout the months of June and July for junior high and high school aged participants, as well as a serve and skills camp for elementary school children.
Ingram is coming off his fourth season at the helm of SIU's volleyball program, a season in which he helped lead the Salukis to their first NCAA Tournament berth in program history. Southern has had an unprecedented amount of success with Ingram at the helm, winning 20-plus matches in three of his four seasons while making four-straight MVC Tournament appearances for the first time in program history.
A one-day offense clinic is slated for Saturday, June 11, followed by a one-day defense clinic on Sunday, June 12. Campers can save on the cost of the clinics by signing up for both.
The following week, the Salukis will host the aforementioned Serve and Skills Clinic, a one-day clinic open to any and all players entering Kindergarten through those entering 12th grade and is designed to improve serving and ball control techniques.
Southern will next play host to three overnight camps, beginning with the Junior High and High School Camps on July 9-10. The summer camp schedule will conclude with SIU's Team Camp, open to both middle school and high school teams. The camp will provide the opportunity for teams to receive skill and system training in a tournament style environment against other schools.
