Hutchins, Kopach named to NWL Major League Dreams Showcase

ROCHESTER, Minn. - Southern Illinois baseball players Nick Hutchins and Connor Kopach were named to the 2016 Northwoods Leauge Major League Dreams Showcase, the league announced Wednesday. The games will be hosted by the Madison Mallards on Tuesday, August 9.Â
The annual Showcase will consist of a double-header featuring the top players from the Northwoods League who were selected by a panel of Major League Baseball Scouts. The players will participate in a day of workouts in front of scouts which will be followed by the double-header. The first game will start at 4:05 p.m. Hutchins and Kopach will both play for the visiting team in the second game, which will begin at approximately 7:35 p.m. CT.
Among catchers, Hutchins leads the Northwoods League in batting average, hits, and triples. He also ranks third in home runs and RBIs and fifth in doubles. Kopach leads the league in steals by 11 with 33 in 49 games. Kopach is hitting .307 with seven doubles, two triples, five home runs and 21 RBIs. Both Hutchins and Kopach rank among the top-15 players in the NWL in runs created.Â
